Overview

The authors of this chapter define value as the intersection between spending, quality, and outcomes in health care. One of the top issues for many in the election this year has been health care. A major sticking point in the US is the cost of health care - over 3 trillion dollars per year. Despite spending more on health care than any other industrialized nation, the US continues to have poor patient outcomes. In this chapter we will discuss this problem and potential solutions.
