Please Note:   if Canvas does not allow you to upload both your answers to the problems (in Word or PDF format) AND your Excel Spreadsheet, just upload your answers (in Word or PDF format) and then email your spreadsheet to me when you are finished.

As I mentioned before, your solutions on the Word or PDF upload is what I will be grading. The Excel spreadsheet will be your supporting work that shows me how you got those solutions.

Be sure to allow time to upload those answers within the 4-hour time limit. If Canvas will not allow you to upload your spreadsheet in addition to your answers, email it to me as soon as you are finished. The time-stamp on your email should be shortly after the time stamp on the conclusion of your midterm exam.

Exam 1

Spring 2021

Instructions:

There are 20 multiple choice questions. You do not need to show any work for these questions and they should be answered in Canvas by selecting the best answer for each question. There is only one correct answer for each question. There is no partial credit for the multiple choice questions.

There are five problems that each require file uploads to Canvas. You should use Genius Scan (or any other scanning device) to create a PDF file of your answers which you will upload to Canvas along with any supporting Excel work. Please print your name and the problem number clearly at the top of each PDF you submit. Please answer each part of each problem as it is shown in the problem. A Word document is also acceptable, but please be sure that what you upload is either Word or PDF.

Problems 3 and 4 require the use of additional data which can be found here: FF data.xlsx

Problems 1-4 each require the use of Excel. Problem 5 may be solved in Excel, but it doesn’t have to be. If you aren’t using Excel for Problem 5, please show your work on the PDF or Word file.  Some problems have parts which ask you to show your work there. For those problems, it is important that you show your simple computations on the PDF or Word file if you want to get maximum credit. Partial credit will be given where applicable for each of the five problems.

For all monetary answers, please carry out your final answer to the nearest cent. For all percentage answers, please carry out your final answer to the nearest basis point (one-hundredth of a percent).

You may refer to your textbook, any notes you took for this class, and any resources I provided for you while you take this exam.
