Instructions: As a young adult living in the first portion of the 21st century, how do stories, news, ideas and commentary about science cross your path during the week? For this post, I'd like you to keep a log for 4-5 days and for any instances of these to note where you came across them, what the topics were, and how much you read/viewed (just the title or first paragraph? All the way to the end of a youtube segment? etc.). If you took in enough to form an opinion, how would you rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being "That's x number of minutes of my life I'll never get back again" and 10 being "This is so incredible I have to tell people about it!")

Also spend some time discussing your general impressions about the ecology of science information outside of the university that you encounter: what's a rough percentage of it compared to info about other areas? How useful is the info? How interesting or not? Are there general trends you notice about what gets presented/discussed in public? Are their comments attached to the info -- what are they like? Do you think your "science information ecology" is approximately the same as other groups? (Maybe what your professors encounter? Your older relatives? Your younger siblings or cousins? People outside of the U.S.? (It's okay to speculate -- over the course of the semester we'll try and work some of this out for ourselves, but first we'll need your reports to use as a baseline.)
