Draw-A-Scientist Assignment
Ask three separate people to take the "draw-a-scientist text" as described in the article by David Wade Chambers. Simply ask each person to draw a picture of a scientist. You can ask any three people you want (friends, roommates, co-workers, parents, children, even other profs), although they should not be in this class. Inform them that the pictures will be shared with other members of your HSCI 3023 class, but no further than this. You do not have to identify the people you ask by name, but you should indicate their age, gender and occupation (for example: "20-yr-old college student, female, chem major" or "9-yr-old boy"). Post these pictures to the class forum discussion for this week, and see how they compare with the pictures other students collected and with the results Chambers and his collaborators got.
