Overview

Module 2 will continue to explore themes within the Counseling Foundations unit. This week, we will read chapters 4 and 5. Chapter 4 discusses self-care and self-growth which are both ethical imperatives for counselors. Chapter 5 will examine the ever-changing world of technology and its place in the field of counseling. I have provided you with lecture presentations as well as some helpful supplemental information included on the resources page.

These chapters provides some terrific case studies and will explore:

Counselor wellness including a holistic model, strategies to help, and challenges to wellness
Career sustainability
Online and distance counseling
Technology in assessment and diagnosis
Technology-based resources for clients and counselors

All of these themes are vital to the counseling profession and will assist you and your clients as you become a professional in this field. I hope that these chapters does not just improve your counseling abilities, but also your awareness and balance as a person functioning in all parts of your life.
