Assignment Overview

Purpose

This course was designed to give you the opportunity to integrate and apply what you have learned from throughout the course and the program. The rationale behind this assignment lies in the fact that the project experience alone will not necessarily lead to learning. Your deliberate reflection on the learning experience is essential. A ‘reflective practice’ can become an important source of your personal professional development and will lead to further growth beyond the classroom. This assignment is designed to help you look back on the work you've done in this course, and take a conscious look at your emotions, experiences, actions and responses, and use that information to add to your existing knowledge base and reach a higher level of understanding.

Directions

Reflect on the work you did in the course throughout the term. Write a 2-3-page paper, reflecting on these three main areas:

• The LCA Project
• Your Learning
• Your Future (Career/Goals)

Choose one or more of the questions in each area below to guide your response. Don't feel limited by these questions. Feel free to add any other relevant information.

1. Reflect on the LCA Project
   • What were some of the most interesting discoveries you made while working on the LCA Project?
     • About the problem/issue?
     • About the process?
     • About yourself?
   • What were some of your most challenging moments and what made them so?
   • If you were asked to do a similar project in the future, what, if anything, would you do differently? Why?
   • If you were to follow through with this project outside of the class, and into the real world, what would be the next steps you would take?

2. Articulate Your Learning
   • How did the LCA project apply or build upon what you have learned during this program?
   • What did you learn about new low carbon technologies?
   • What aspects of this project contributed most to your learning and why?

3. Consider Your Career
   • What new insights did you develop regarding your career plans as a result of working on this project?
   • What connections, if any, do you see between this project and your career path or future plans?
   • How would you describe this project to a potential employer in a way that synthesizes the knowledge and skills you gained?
