About This Exam
Overview
Your final exam will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions, worth 2 points each, for a total of 100 points. The questions will cover content from lectures and Chapters 1-11 in your textbook.
You can use your text and other course materials as resources, but you may not take this exam with a peer or group of peers. The goal of this exam is to test your knowledge, understanding, and application of key group counseling concepts. I've removed the time limit associated with the exam as I believe searching for an answer to a question and understanding the context enhances our learning and integration of material. Additionally, I encourage you to trust your gut as you take the exam, perhaps marking items that you feel confident in initially and circling back through the resources to confirm or clarify your understanding would be a helpful strategy. I do encourage you to set a boundary to complete the exam in the same day that you start, ideally the same sitting as this could also help prepare you for sitting for future counseling exams as it replicates the setting. Your mastery of these test items will also prepare you for success in answering group counseling questions on the CPCE and NCE examinations. Being familiar with the material before starting an exam is imperative for success for your future counseling exams as you won't have resources to reference. Also, the mindset that you enter the exam is important and I hope you can see it as an opportunity to help prepare you for your future of working with clients. You are all learning and growing counselors-in-training and exams are only one way to test our knowledge.
