This module introduces the various ways that property interests in oil and gas are transferred to others. Additionally, we will discuss the legal rules that lawyers and courts apply to interpret the meaning of deeds and other instruments used to transfer rights.

Identify the formal requirements of a conveyance and why each must be present in order to effectively convey an interest in oil and gas rights
Identify the four (4) main methods of conveying an interest in real property
Explore various other ancillary types of transferring rights in oil and gas, such as partition, prescription, life estates, etc
Explore the “four corners” rule of judicial interpretation and identify common interpretation issues in oil and gas conveyances
