About This Assignment
The objective of this reflection assignment is to encourage deep processing of the lecture material. By summarizing the content and reflecting on its applications and remaining questions, you're not just passively receiving information; you are actively engaging with it, enhancing comprehension and retention.
Relevancy:
The topics you choose to expand upon should be those that resonate with your career or personal interests, making the exercise directly relevant to your professional development. By identifying these areas, the reflection not only serves as an academic exercise but also as a bridge to real-world application.
Value:
This reflection serves multiple purposes. It's a tool for self-assessment, allowing you to measure your comprehension and identify gaps in understanding. It acts as a springboard for continuous learning by prompting further inquiry. Additionally, it provides your instructor with insight into your learning process, which can inform future teaching strategies. Ultimately, the act of reflection consolidates learning, enhances critical thinking, and equips you with insights that can be applied to practical scenarios.
Objectives
This assignment will guide your learning process to ensure you can:
- Utilize CRUD functions to build a small database in SQL Server (CLO-E, MLO-1)
- Create Views, user-defined functions, triggers, stored procedures, and Temporary Tables, and Common Table Expressions (CTE) (CLO-E, MLO-2)

Directions
When providing your reflection on the lecture, please answer the following questions:
-
Summary: The reflection begins with a comprehensive summary of the lecture content, encapsulating the primary topics and discussions within two detailed paragraphs, each at least ten lines long. This exercise demands attention to detail and the ability to discern key points, ensuring that you have a solid grasp of the subject matter. Summarize the lecture in 2 paragraphs (10 lines a minimum each). Make sure to provide as many details as possible.
-
Topics of Interest: Following the summary, you will identify two specific topics that captured your interest or that you recognize as immediately applicable to your professional setting. This section is not merely descriptive but also reflective, as it requires you to personalize the information and envision practical implementations. List and describe two topics that were the most interesting to you/can be utilized at your work immediately.
-
Inquisitive Closure: Conclude your reflection with a question that arose during the lecture. This promotes a growth mindset, highlighting areas for further exploration and understanding that learning is an ongoing process. Specifically, we ask you to focus on one question that you still have about the covered material in this lecture.

Guidelines
Assessment
This Reflection assignment will be evaluated on completeness. Each question will be evaluated as follows:
- Summarize the lecture in 2 paragraphs (10 lines minimum each). Make sure to provide as many details as possible.
- Students can earn all points possible if all topics for the Module week are referenced and described in detail in the response. If the response omits a Module topic, then a point will be deducted from this category for each topic omitted. If you make a mistake or the instructor identifies a gap in your understanding, then no points will be deducted. Rather, this response will be treated as a way to revisit your understanding of Module topics and correct student understanding of the concept.
- List and describe two topics that were the most interesting to you/can be utilized at your work immediately.
- Each topic is worth three points; six points are possible to earn for this question.
- Detailed elaboration about the topic will earn two points.
- Describing the topic will earn one point.
- What is the one question that you still have about the material covered in this lecture?
- Providing a question outside of what was covered in the Lecture will earn one point.
- Demonstrating a growth mindset will earn one point.
- Highlighting areas for further exploration will earn one point.
- Demonstrating an understanding that learning is an ongoing process will earn one point.
- NOTE: Please understand that asking questions is a vital part of learning. It demonstrates your curiosity, your engagement with the material, and your desire to delve deeper into the subject. Therefore, responding with "I do not have a question" is not acceptable in this assignment.
- Failure to provide a question will result in a score of 0 out of 4. This stipulation is because the absence of a question indicates a lack of engagement or reflection on the material, which is a key component of this exercise.
We encourage you to think critically about the lecture and the topics discussed. There is always something new to learn or an aspect that can be explored further. If you are having difficulty coming up with a question, consider aspects of the lecture that intrigued you, areas you found challenging, or topics you wish to understand more deeply.
Remember, there is no such thing as a bad question. Every question is a stepping stone towards greater understanding and knowledge.
