About This Chapter
In this chapter, you’ve learned about the nature of identity and the ways in which your identity functions in your life. You then learned about face theory and its relation to identity and culture. Next, you learned about the various theories—self-aspects model of identity, social identity theory, and communication theory of identity—that explain the nature, purpose, and influences of identity. Finally, you overviewed the implications of cultural identity in relation to ethnicity, age, and gender along with learning about the struggle that comes with negotiating between multiple identities.
