Case Analysis (CA) Project

Our course will explore multiple cases for sourcing and supply chain management situations. You will work with a small group (3-4 people) to analyze a specific case and offer solutions. Your final project will be a Case Review and Presentation that you will deliver during our final Live Session.

For the case analysis project, we will use Cases from our textbook and other credible sources. One case will be assigned to each group.

CA Checkpoints

Introduction

Before analyzing a case study, it is essential to understand the case's context, big picture, and details. A clear introduction to the case should provide enough information shared succinctly so that other reviewers can understand the gist of the case. In this step, you will demonstrate that you have carefully read and comprehended the case well enough to conduct an analysis.

Background

Now that you have prepared to analyze your case, you will compose a formal introduction and clearly explain the background context of the case. A clear case study introduction and background should provide enough information shared succinctly so that other reviewers can understand the gist of the case, including your proposed hypothesis of the cause of the central problem and proposed solutions.

Case Evaluation

An evaluation of the case moves beyond the information gathered for the introduction and background of the case analysis. In this step, you evaluate the situational details illustrated in the case to identify the underlying issues causing the central problem.

Proposed Solutions

Based on the problems presented in the case and your analysis of the causes and effects of these problems, what solutions are most practical and viable? The solutions proposed to solve the conflicts illustrated in the case should be sound recommendations that mirror how a professional encountering a similar situation in the workplace would react to reach a reasonable resolution.

Recommendations

After carefully reviewing how your proposed solutions may suit the problems in the case, you should be able to pinpoint the most realistic and effective recommendation(s). In the final recommendation, how should this solution resolve the central problem, who will be responsible for enacting the necessary steps, and what should the intended and desired outcome be explained?

Case Review and Presentation

The final report is a refined synthesis of all CA Checkpoints. The report will be organized by CA Checkpoint headers, and groups should be able to use the content submitted for all checkpoints, edit it for readability, reduce redundant language left over from initial checkpoint assignment submissions, and take into account instructor feedback. The final report should be a maximum of 10 pages if the CA Checkpoints are 1-2 pages. Sources used in the final report will be formatted in APA on a reference page. You will present your findings in a recorded video presentation.

Recording Your Presentation

Record your presentation on MyMedia Kaltura. You can learn how to download and use this free software using the OU MyMedia Kaltura Capture Guide.
- All students can access a free account with MyMedia Kaltura, a video recording and screen capture software directly linked to your Canvas course. The Kaltura Capture app is free, and you will download it to your different machines (Kaltura Capture is not available for iPads or older tablets).
- After downloading Kaltura Capture, you can record presentations without needing an internet connection. This app allows you to record your voice, screen, video image (if you have a webcam), and annotations.
