About the Final

  • Course content tested:  This is a comprehensive exam covering all material in MS chapters 9 and 11-17. Theoretical, practical, and conceptual ideas associated with the interpretation of statistics will be covered by requiring you to develop and prove theoretical results important to the course and show familiarity with the basic formulae used in MLR. In addition, questions will be given that supply real data and require you to recognize experimental designs and then apply R to find estimates and test NULL hypotheses that you have become familiar with throughout the semester.
  • Exam Format: You will complete the questions and upload your answer file. Review the "Directions" section below for details.
  • Time limit: 120 minutes to take the exam + 15 minutes for uploading
  • Number of attempts: 1

Objectives

You must be able to use the following theory and procedures:

  • The reliability of a network
  • Construct an appropriate control chart using qcc::qcc()
  • Find point and interval estimates for proportions and conduct one-way/two-way testing in the context of tables of counts (ch 9)
  • Know the three experimental designs discussed in Chapter 13 and implemented in the chapters following.
  • Use R well and know how to implement ANOVA using the MLR estimation output and aov() tabular output.
  • R graphical procedures to clarify analysis (boxplots, etc.)
  • Projection theory and how F statistics are made theoretically
  • Must know the formulae associated with the estimation of beta parameters and variance
  • s20x functions useful in ANOVA and tables of counts.

  • step wise regression using step() and its options. "forward" and "backward".

Directions

  • Use an RMD document and place all R code in chunks.
    • Please place any extended proof on paper and add to RMD with ![](){} using a picture.
  • Knit to HTML and upload this document (the HTML) on CANVAS.
  • You may not open anything except Canvas (for the questions) and your R Studio application. In addition, you may use R's help files.
    • You will need R studio running with the package s20x installed. Be sure it is installed before you start the exam.
    • Upload the HTML to FINAL upload

Assessment

A 100-point rubric will be used to assign points to your exam. There will be 10 questions covering various topics from Modules 1-15. You will be given 120 minutes to complete the exam. There will also be 15 minutes allotted to upload the final HTML file to Canvas.

  • Closed book—You must not use any resources other than R studio, the Canvas page holding the exam, and R's help files
  • All work should be yours only
  • No conversing with other students during the exam
