About This Quiz

Given that Parts Unlimited is nowhere near ready to deploy its External Developer Platform (ExDP), we will instead focus on the case studies presented in Chapter 6 of Designed for Digital. These case studies showcase real-world companies and illustrate how they have successfully built and managed their ExDPs.

It is highly recommended that you read the assigned chapters from the book and listen to the Module Lectures before attempting to address the following questions. However, before reading the assigned material, familiarize yourself with the questions in this assignment and then read actively to find answers. 

You need to be as specific as possible in your answers. For example, statements like: "IT is an extremely important part of the organization" or "IT is a key driver for Parts Unlimited" are much too general. Instead, choose statements like the following: What specifically about IT makes it essential for the firm in question?  What are the actual IT drivers for the firm & how do they drive the firm towards their objectives? 

You will be encouraged to research on your own to address specific questions.  These can be Internet searches or referencing readings that you may have done in other courses.

Objectives

This assignment will guide your learning process to ensure you can:

1. Understand the concept and importance of external developer platforms (ExDPs) in expanding digital ecosystems (CLO A, B)
2. Identify key components and strategies for successfully building and managing an ExDP (CLO A, B)
3. Explore real-world examples of companies like Apple and Google utilizing ExDPs to enhance their digital offerings (CLO A, B, E)
4. Analyze the benefits and challenges associated with implementing ExDPs, including scalability and partner management (CLO A, B, E)
