Get Connected

This module will help you connect to your college accounts. You will find information about connecting to the internet, accessing your email account and setting your university account. Please follow the steps outlined below.

 

Connecting to internet

  • The preferred network for members of the university is WIFI@OU. Go to your network settings in your device and use your OU credentials to access the network.* Learn how connect your iOS, Mac, Android, or Windows device and what devices are not supported on WIFI@OU here.
  • Norman Programs only: If the device you wish to connect to does not support WIFI@OU, you will need to connect it to AccessOU.  Devices such as Google Home will need to connect to AccessOU, while your smart phone connects to WIFI@OU and they can still communicate. Your University Account

For Norman Programs
  • Navigate to the Accounts Settings page at one.ou.edu. ​Click on “New to OU? Setup your OU account” and enter your OUNetID and Date of Birth (MM/DD/YYYY) and then hit the "Identify account" button. ​Create a password for your account following the instructions and password requirements on the page.
  • From the Account Settings > Security tab, you may also enter an account recovery email address (non-OU) where OU IT can send password reset information in case you lose or forget your password. From the Account Settings > Emergency Alerts tab, you may enter your cell phone number in the Add Alert area to be notified of campus emergencies. Here you can find the detailed help article 
  • To log in, visit one.ou.edu and use your OU credentials. ONE is where you will register for classes, pay your bursar and a dozen other helpful features. You can access all your different accounts from here.

For Health Sciences Programs

  • Information about managing your account can be found at https://www.ou.edu/ouit/ouhscpassword. HSC students should visit  https://www.ouhsc.edu/selfserve to pay college tuition, retrieve their transcripts, and access other helpful features. To enroll in classes, talk to your advisor about filling out the electronic paperwork. 

 

Your OU Email

  • OU email accounts are associated with Outlook, which you can access at https://outlook.office.com Links to an external site.. Sign in with your OU email and your regular OU password. After signing in, you will be prompted to authenticate with PingID, and you can find more information in this article.
  • The default email address for all Norman students is firstname.middleinitial.lastname-1@ou.edu, and for all HSC students is firstname-lastname@ouhsc.edu. We recommend that you change this to a shorter version of your first and last name. Visit one.ou.edu to retrieve your OU Email. Note: If you have a common name (e.g. Ashley Smith), your email address may not end in -1; it may end in -2, -3, etc. depending on the number of individuals with the same name.
  • For Norman Programs ONLY, you can go to one.ou.edu to change your alias from "Email Information."
  • Spam emails can cause viruses to infect your computer. Watch out for emails from suspicious email addresses, random capitalization, and typos. Check out these antivirus and malware scanners to help protect your computer and keep you up and running.
  • Change your password once a year! Once you get your email set up, it's important to remember that your password will expire in 365 days, and you will no longer be able to access your account until it is changed. You can create a new password by visiting one.ou.edu

 

Your Zoom Account

  • Zoom is the online conferencing platform available to students for videoconferencing and distance learning. OU students /faculty can log into Zoom directly using their OU account. Visit oklahoma.zoom.us Links to an external site. and sign in with your OU credentials.
  • After signing in, you will need to download Zoom Client application. You can do this by going to the "Resources" tab on the top right corner, and selecting "Download Zoom Client Links to an external site.".  You will need to sign in to the application by selecting "sign in with SSO" in the right column and choose "oklahoma" for company domain.
  • For a visual guide, follow this link. With Zoom setup, you can enter your online classes using the link and password your professors sent to you. Alternatively, you can use the link provided to you.

 

FREE Microsoft Office

OU offers Microsoft Office 365 to all students as a free email service. This includes FREE access to Word, Excel, OneNote, and other productivity tools. After you have set up your OUNet Account, you can log in at portal.office.com and click Install Office 365 to install Office on your computer!

 

*For Norman Campus, your username is the first four letters of your last name followed by four assigned numbers by the university (Example: John Smith = smit0000). For OUHSC Campus, your username is the first letter of your first name, followed by seven letters of your last name (Example: John Smith = JSMITH). Note: If 8 letters are reached for OUHSC and the username is not unique, the last letter(s) will be replaced by a number until a unique one is created.
