Overview

This module comprises an introduction to what is meant in this course by the term “process,” and how processes are represented to varying degree of detail by different process diagrams. In this module we will learn how block flow diagrams are used to show important features of processes. Using the block flow diagrams, we will begin to identify possibilities to improve sustainability.

Correctly interpret a process block flow diagram, including identification of all process unit operations (blocks), process inputs and outputs, and internal streams including recycle.
Draw a complete process block flow diagram from a written description of the process.
