Degree Plans/Programs of Study

At OU, the term Degree Plan is replaced with the term Program of Study (POS). When you enter the program, it will be important to identify your POS and work closely with your advisor to plan your educational journey. Dependent on your entry date, you will be pursuing one of two degrees:

Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Has three tracks/Programs of Study based on entry date)
Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

To determine which Degree and POS that applies to you, reference the following table. Information for your specific track and POS can be found on the Student Information Canvas site for your campus.

Any classes listed below that are not required by your degree plan can be taken as an elective, should you be interested in the course content.

A Note About Course Titles

Course titles were changed in the Spring of 2023. Both course titles are listed together because official degree plans have not been updated as of the construction of this handbook. Additionally, you may see courses offered under both titles. Be aware that if you take both versions of a course, one must count as an elective.
