It is important for all schools to utilize the best disinfecting technology to stay safe. Have you heard of some of this equipment? Did you know that we have many of these items made here in Oklahoma?

ULV Foggers

ULV foggers or misters spray a small mist or droplet to effectively disinfect different surfaces and objects. ULV stands for ultra-low volume. You don't want to mistake a ULV fogger with a thermal fogger because these foggers let out a cloud-like smoke. When certain chemicals are fumed like this they can be harmful to the people disinfecting.  ULV foggers have fan motor and disperses disinfectant to coat surfaces and reach areas that you can not with conventional wiping.

Electrostatic Sprayers

Electrostatic Sprayers are some of the most popular disinfectant sprayers. People are using these machines across the country to apply various chemicals to kill the novel coronavirus along with more harmful pathogens. Electrostatic Sprayers electrically charge the disinfectant particles with an electrode at the tip of the nozzle. This positively charged liquid attracts to negatively charged surfaces. When an electrostatic sprayer is used the disinfectant wraps and adheres to surfaces. You can spray with one these machines from one side and trust that disinfected wrapped around the object on the other side. Electrostatic sprayers also use less disinfectant saving users money in the long run.

EPA List N Disinfectant

People are wanting to use anything to kill germs these days, but it's important to know what you are using. Some disinfectants should not be used in the applications I discussed above. Always consult the label before using any disinfectant.  If the label does not mention fogging or electrostatic spraying it is not registered by the EPA to be used in this equipment. When some chemicals are sprayed at this small of a micron size it alters the way it can affect the body if hits skin or is inhaled. SDS sheets can give you information as well as the label to make sure you are taking the right precautions. Another great resource is the EPA N List which is a list of disinfectants that have been tested to kill viruses more stringent than the COVID-19
