ASSIGNMENT 7: Share, watch and discuss CAP Presentations Copy
- Due No Due Date
- Points 50
- Submitting a discussion post
Instead of having a Live Session this week, each of you will watch and discuss the other teams' presentations.
About This Assignment
Prior to our usual Live Session, your team will record a 10-15 minute multi-media presentation (either a video, webcast, narrated PowerPoint, or recording of a virtual conference). This presentation should include the key findings from the CAP of your company. Someone from your team will need to upload your multimedia presentation here before Monday at 7:00 pm. You could also provide a link to the presentation (on Youtube, Dropbox, your blog, your website, etc.) Remember, this is a formal presentation. I expect the presentation to include audio and visuals. A simple Word document or PowerPoint will not suffice.
All students on a team should present part of the analysis, but you can choose how much each person covers. Your analysis should cover the following:
- What does your company do? What is their strategic positioning? Discuss from the perspective of either Porter’s five forces or SWOT analysis.
- Discuss your company’s relative profitability, liquidity, and solvency noting any critical issues. Compare your company with your two selected peer companies on key ratios.
- Select a portion of the analysis you conducted during the term you found particularly interesting and discuss this with the class.
- Do you think your company is over- or under-valued? Justify your answer.
- Would you recommend your company for investment? Why or why not? Hint: Consider the analysis you did during the course, the company's future prospects, and any other information that seems useful. It is also useful to review what the financial press says about your company.
While we won't have a Live Session this week, each of you should watch the other teams' presentations. As you watch the other teams' presentations, take notes. You'll be asked a question on the final exam that will be related to the presentations.
Directions
- Post (Monday by 7:00 pm): Appoint a representative from your group to post a link to your group's CAP multi-media presentation on this discussion board before Monday at 7:00 pm. Make sure it's clear who is responsible for posting the link for your group. The posting should include your Group Name (e.g., CAP 3) and the Company Name (e.g., Wyndham Hotels and Resorts), and the link to your presentation.
- Respond (The following Thursday by 7:00 pm): Each student should watch 4 other groups' presentations and respond to the presentations. You can comment by responding on one or more of these prompts:
- What was the most compelling or persuasive part of the presentation?
- Analyze and discuss the way in which the presentation you watched applied the concepts and processes you've learned about during this course.
- Compare the company your group researched with the presentation you watched.
- In your opinion, which company would make a better investment? Why?
