Instructions

For this midterm exam, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO USE Respondus LockDown Browser. You will need to install it on your computer. You can find detailed instructions here or here.

I strongly recommend you use the wired Internet connection to minimize problems you may experience while taking the quiz.

This is Part 1 (70%, or 7 actual course points) of the exam. It is offered in a form of a Canvas quiz and is available as a one-time attempt, for the total of uninterrupted 1 hr. 15 min. (will be timed). Once you start taking Part 1 you cannot stop and have to finish within 1 hr. 15  min.

You must complete Part 1 Tuesday, March 23 between 3p.m. and 4:15p.m. You will have to have an uninterrupted time, a stable Internet connection (wired preferred) and a computer and be ready to complete this Part 1 within this time window.

Part 2 (30%, or 3 actual course points) will be available under Assignment/Midterm Exam Part 2  from Wednesday March 24 9a.m. until Friday, March 26 9p.m. (48 hours + 12 hours grace period to submit).

You must complete Part 2 by Friday, March 26 9p.m. and submit into Canvas/Assignments/Exam Part 2. This will be a "take home" part of the exam.

Grading:

Part 1 counts for 70%, or 7 actual course points. Each question may display with a number of points -- these are percentages from the total of the exam.

Thus, if you receive 70 points for part one (maximum), that means you received 70% out of possible 70% and will see 7pts. on your actual course grade for Part 1 of the midterm exam.

Part 2 counts for 30%, or 3 actual course points. It will be evaluated holistically, following the rubric provided in Part 2 (the same rubric we used for a news release).

As with all other assignments, we plan to finish grading within a week of the end of the exam within one week.

If you still have questions about grading or unsure how your grade for the exam will be calculated, please feel free to ask questions during office hours.
