Course Components
Readings
The readings are designed to give you the commercial business view via the government descriptions and vernacular for Supply Chain Management and Logistics. They serve to give you the baseline professional industry standard language you're likely to encounter in your day-to-day activities. You are expected to do all of the readings. Your Building Block assignments are based on the reading material so it will be obvious if you haven't done them when I review your assignment.
Question Boards
Each week, you are required to post one question to the discussion board from the reading material. The question can seek clarification from the readings, how the topic relates to aerospace and defense, or challenge an assumption suggested in the readings. I will bring the top 3-4 asked questions to the Live Session for us to discuss. The intent is to get you thinking about what you read and asking intelligent questions on how the information applies more broadly.
Building Block Assignments
The Building Block assignments are designed as the name implies. You are going to build an analysis of a supply chain, one piece at a time. Each block will tie to that week's lesson and add one more piece to your final project. The Building Block assignments are due before the Live Session each week, and we'll take a few minutes at the beginning of class to discuss a few of your inputs. This is simply a method to cross-share information among your cohort. By the end of week 7, you'll have nearly everything you need for your final project presentation during week 8.
I suggest you choose a supply chain in your current industry or even the organization you work for as it will facilitate your research. If you work for a large business, choosing one product line's supply chain would be the better way to approach the Building Blocks.
I would encourage you not to attempt to outline a supply chain such as Amazon or Walmart unless they are your employer. They are simply too broad for the scope of this class to conduct a meaningful analysis in the short time we have together.
Live Sessions
Our Live Sessions are an integral part of this course and I highly encourage you to attend each week. The main objective of the Live Sessions is to add the Aerospace and Defense perspective to our lessons on supply chain management. Your out-of-class readings provide you the common technical baseline of the supply chain, and it's through the Live Sessions where we overlay how commercial supply chains relate to the Department of Defense. We'll also discuss a case study during weeks 2-7 to add real-world context to our weekly topic.
Midterm Exam
There will be one written exam for this course at the midpoint. It is designed as an open book essay exam to be completed on your own—no collaboration with anyone. You will have a 4-day window to take the exam once I provide it to you. However, once you start the exam in Canvas, you have a 5-hour time limit to complete the exam, and you cannot stop the clock once you begin. Be sure to set aside the proper time to complete the exam.
Case Studies
We have six case studies for this class to provide context to certain modules. For five of the case studies, everyone will read the case and I will assign one group to conduct the case analysis and present it during our Live Session. I will assign everyone to a group during our first week of class so you have time to plan ahead and schedule accordingly to analyze your assigned case. Everyone will read one of the case studies, and the analysis and discussion is instructor-led during the Live Session via a group presentation.
Final Project Presentation
Your final project is the aggregation of your Building Block assignments. You will take each piece developed over the length of the course and synthesize the information into one analysis of the supply chain you've outlined. If your chosen supply chain is from the Aerospace and Defense industry, you will discuss how your supply chain interfaces with the Department of Defense, its strong and weak points, risk areas and mitigation actions, and any recommendations to improve its performance. If your chosen supply chain is not from the A&D sector, your analytical requirements are the same, but you will not have to discuss how it interfaces with the DoD.

Communication
E-mail is the best way to contact me and I will respond as soon as I am able within 24 hours. Responses will generally be before or after normal business hours (Central time) and not throughout the day.
Late Policy
I expect assignments to be turned in on time and all assignments are required for successful course completion. If you believe you will be late submitting an assignment, please reach out to me at least the day before it is due to discuss. Each situation is different, so I do not have a one-size-fits-all policy.

Academic Misconduct

It is the responsibility of each student to be familiar with the definitions, policies, and procedures concerning academic misconduct. The Student Code is available from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and is contained in the Student's Guide to Academic Integrity.
This site also defines misconduct, provides examples of prohibited conduct, and explains the sanctions available for those found guilty of misconduct.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the most common form of academic misconduct at OU. There is basically no college-level assignment that can be satisfactorily completed by copying. OU's basic assumption about writing is that all written assignments show the student's own understanding in the student's own words. That means all writing assignments, in class or out, are assumed to be composed entirely of words generated (not simply found) by the student, except where words written by someone else are specifically marked as such with proper citation. Including other people's words in your paper is helpful when you do it honestly and correctly. When you don't, it's plagiarism.

Religious Holidays
It is the policy of the University to excuse absences of students that result from religious observances and to provide for the rescheduling of examinations and additional required classwork that may fall on religious holidays without penalty. It is the responsibility of the student to make alternate arrangements with the instructor at least one week prior to the actual date of the religious holiday.
Copyright Policy

Registration and Withdrawal
If you choose to withdraw from this course, you must complete the appropriate University form and turn the form in before the deadline. If you stop attending the course and doing the coursework without doing the required paperwork, your grade will be calculated with missed homework and examination grades entered as zero. This could result in receiving a grade of F in the course. Deadlines are shown in the Academic Calendar, which is available from the Office of the Registrar.
