Course Materials
Fixed Income Analysis, 4th Edition by CFA Institute
The textbook for this course is the latest edition of the text that the CFA Institute recommends for CFA applicants to review prior to sitting for the Fixed Income portion of the CFA exam. We will not cover everything in the text and will skip around quite a bit. In this class, you will not be responsible for anything that is in the text that we don’t discuss in class or on the videos. Use the text as a resource to help you understand the topics I have chosen for this course. Getting the information from a somewhat different source often helps. The chapters I’ve listed on the schedule are where you can find material on the topic that will be covered that week.
CFA Prep
Some of you will want to earn the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation. This course will provide you with the skills you will need to pass the Fixed Income portion of the exam. The textbook we will be using is the official CFA textbook for students who plan to sit for the Fixed Income portion of the exam. If you learn this material, I am confident that you will be able to pass the Fixed Income portion of the CFA exam.

Course Components
Assignments
There will be several graded assignments for this course. Each assignment is due at the start of class on the due date. You are allowed to refer to your textbook, class notes, or any other material I have provided you for this course. You may also discuss the assignments with classmates, though each student must turn in their own work. Late assignments will be accepted with reduced credit only if I have not yet provided or discussed the solutions. If an assignment is turned in after I have started discussing the solutions or provided them on Canvas, I cannot accept a late submission.
Exam
There will be a final exam during the weekend following our last class. It will be a timed exam on Canvas. You will be allowed to refer to your textbook, class notes, and any other material I have provided for you in this course. You may not refer to any materials other than what I just mentioned. You will not be allowed to discuss the exam with classmates or anyone else.
Attendance
Attendance is part of your grade for the course. You will receive full attendance credit for the week if you are present during the entire class with your camera turned on. If, in the rare event, you are not able to attend an in-class session, you can still receive full attendance points if you watch the recording of the class and email a detailed two-page summary of what was covered within a few days of the class. I reserve the right to limit how many times during the semester you can do this.

Academic Misconduct
In addition to the course conduct policies outlined by your professor in the Course Syllabus in the online classroom, please review the Graduate Student Handbook.
It is the responsibility of each student to be familiar with the definitions, policies, and procedures concerning academic misconduct. The Student Code is available from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and is contained in the Student's Guide to Academic Integrity.
This site also defines misconduct, provides examples of prohibited conduct, and explains the sanctions available for those found guilty of misconduct.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the most common form of academic misconduct at OU. There is basically no college-level assignment that can be satisfactorily completed by copying. OU's basic assumption about writing is that all written assignments show the student's own understanding in the student's own words. That means all writing assignments, in class or out, are assumed to be composed entirely of words generated (not simply found) by the student, except where words written by someone else are specifically marked as such with proper citation. Including other people's words in your paper is helpful when you do it honestly and correctly. When you don't, it's plagiarism.

Religious Holidays
The university's policy is to excuse absences of students that result from religious observances and to provide without penalty for the rescheduling of examinations and additional required classwork that may fall on religious holidays. It is the responsibility of the student to make alternate arrangements with the instructor at least one week prior to the actual date of the religious holiday.

Copyright Policy

Registration and Withdrawal
If you choose to withdraw from this course, you must complete the appropriate University form and turn the form in before the deadline. If you stop attending the course and doing the coursework without the required paperwork, your grade will be calculated with missed homework and examination grades entered as zero. This could result in receiving a grade of F in the course. Deadlines are shown in the Academic Calendar, which is available from the Office of the Registrar.
