Syllabus

Reading the course syllabus will be helpful in getting a broad sense of what we will be doing throughout the course. My hope is that it serves as a roadmap for what will happen and how you can be successful.

Wisdom Wall

Hundreds of students have come before you in PR Design and several have provided wisdom to help you become successful this semester. You'll find that former peers will teach you more about the course, and potentially more about your own creative abilities than I ever could at times.

Spend some time surfing through the Wisdom Wall to read what students have written about conquering this course. Some of the advice is super practical like how to best structure your schedule or what software to buy, while other advice is deep and thoughtful.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Building your technology toolkit is referenced heavily in the syllabus. At this time, if you don't already have Adobe Creative Cloud, you'll need to download and install Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps.

Submit Blog URL

For this class you are required to maintain a domain and blog, which will become a portfolio by the end of the semester. You may already have a blog and it’s absolutely okay to use that blog. However, my strong recommendation would be obtain an actual domain (.com, .org, .net) if you don’t already have one.

With create.ou.edu you can purchase a domain for $12/year or you can use a free subdomain (yourname.oucreate.com). Whatever you want is up to you. You’ll be able to watch a video on how to setup WordPress on a domain via http://create.ou.edu, a service which is provided to you as student at the University of Oklahoma. WordPress is a free, highly popular, open source blogging platform. You can also use a commercial host such as Reclaim Hosting Links to an external site., Lithium Hosting,  Links to an external site.Bluehost Links to an external site.or HostGator Links to an external site..

Take about half an hour to set up your domain and blog URL. Once you have decided on a platform and built your blog, submit the url below (ex: sherrykast.com, sherrykast.wordpress.com, sherrykast.tumblr.com)
