Course Components
Quizzes
Weekly quizzes, both open-ended and multiple choice, will be given to assess your understanding of the module and Live Session lecture content. Quizzes will be available immediately following each Live Session and you are encouraged to complete them at the end of class.
Capture Plan
Securing a profitable project in the Construction Industry requires developing a meaningful planning and disciplined execution of that plan. It is a combined effort of a companies' business development, estimating, and operation teams. For this course, you will develop a Capture Plan for a construction opportunity in the marketplace. As a team, you will identify, select, and agree to a specific construction opportunity for this assignment, The construction opportunity your team selects, will be used throughout the course. The Capture Plan will be divided into 6 components with opportunities to practice, show, and demonstrate learning. There will be one component due each week of the course beginning with Week2.
Personal Best Practices Plan
Each student will develop a Personal Best Practice Plan by the end of this course. During the course you will have the opportunity to reflect on what skills and actions would improve your ability to help you place your organization in a better position to secure profitable projects and to bolster your own professional growth. The Personal Best Practice Plan will be due at the end of the course prior to Week 7.
Peer Assessment
Participants will organize into teams for the Capture Plan assignment prior to Week 2. Each team will consist of either 4 or 5 team members. At the end of the course, each team member is required to provide an assessment of the participation and contribution of their other team members. As an example, for a team of 5 people, each team member will provide an individual assessment of their other 4 teammates. This is to ensure that each team member participates in the assignments and is accountable to their team.
Reflection Paper
The reflection paper is an opportunity for each student to think about what new concepts were learned during the course and how they might be applied throughout their career. This is an individual assignment and a summative reflection of the course content in its entirety.
Final Exam
The Final Exam is an opportunity for each student to demonstrate that they have learned the material presented in class. It is not an opportunity to measure a student’s ability to memorize or list content from the class. This assessment will demonstrate that you can make connections among the different ideas presented throughout the course.
Course Policies
Attendance
Although attendance will not be taken, students are expected to attend each course and participate. There are seven class meetings during the term so our time together will be quick. Ask engaging questions.
Communication
The best way to communicate with me is via my OU email address (lrocchio@ou.edu), I check it at least once a day. I will respond to most emails within 24 hours. Should we need to have a discussion, email me and we will set up a time to meet via Zoom.
I will return graded assignments within one week.
Class Participation
You are expected to have understood the material and participate in active discussions during class. Ask questions. Ask questions that are relevant and help others with understanding the constructs and ideas to be discussed during class time.
Absences
Class attendance and participation is an individual student's responsibility. Students are expected to attend class and to complete all assignments. Students are responsible for the content of courses in which they are enrolled. Students have a responsibility to inform me prior to absences whenever possible.
Late Policy
The deadlines were published at the start of the course. Late work will not be accepted. Submitting work prior to the deadline is encouraged.

Long before the University of Oklahoma was established, the land on which the University now resides was the traditional home of the “Hasinais” Caddo Nation and “Kirikirʔi:s” Wichita & Affiliated Tribes.

These recordings are the intellectual property of the individual faculty member and may not be shared or reproduced without the explicit, written consent of the faculty member. In addition, the privacy rights of others such as students, guest lecturers, and providers of copyrighted material displayed in the recording may be of concern. Students may not share any course recordings with individuals not enrolled in the class or upload them to any other online environment.
Academic Integrity

Academic honesty is incredibly important in this course. Cheating is strictly prohibited at the University of Oklahoma because it devalues the degree you are working hard to get. Your instructor has a professional obligation to report academic misconduct.

Adjustments for Pregnancy/Childbirth-Related Issues
Should you need modifications or adjustments to your course requirements because of documented pregnancy-related or childbirth-related issues, please contact your instructor as soon as possible to discuss your options. Generally, modifications will be made where medically necessary and similar in scope to accommodations based on temporary disability. Final Exam Preparation Period
Pre-finals week will be defined as the seven calendar days before the first day of finals. Faculty may cover new course material throughout this week. For specific provisions of the policy please refer to OU's Final Exam Preparation Period policy.
Required Policies for Students On Campus
Emergency Protocol
During an emergency, there are official university procedures that will maximize your safety.
Severe Weather: If you receive an OU Alert to seek refuge or hear a tornado siren that signals severe weather:
- Look for severe weather refuge location maps located inside most OU buildings near the entrances
- Seek refuge inside a building. Do not leave one building to seek shelter in another building that you deem safer. If outside, get into the nearest building.
- Go to the building’s severe weather refuge location. If you do not know where that is, go to the lowest level possible and seek refuge in the innermost room. Avoid outside doors and windows.
- Get in, Get Down, Cover Up.
- Wait for official notice to resume normal activities.

Armed Subject/Campus Intruder
If you receive an OU Alert to shelter-in-place due to an active shooter or armed intruder situation or you hear what you perceive to be gunshots:
- Avoid: If you believe you can get out of the area without encountering the armed individual, move quickly towards the nearest building exit, move away from the building, and call 911.
- Deny: If you cannot flee, move to an area that can be locked or barricaded, turn off lights, silence devices, spread out, and formulate a plan of attack if the shooter enters the room.
- Defend: As a last resort fight to defend yourself. For more information, visit:

Fire Alarm/General Emergency
If you receive an OU Alert that there is danger inside or near the building, or the fire alarm inside the building activates:
- Leave the building. Do not use the elevators.
- Know at least two building exits.
- Assist those who may need help.
- Proceed to the emergency assembly area.
- Once safely outside, Notify first responders of anyone who may still be inside the building due to mobility issues.
- Wait for official notice before attempting to re-enter the building.
