Course Components: There are five major components of this course for Spring 2023 Semester as follows.
🚩🚩1. Weekly Lecture Videos 🚩🚩
- The weekly course lecture videos will be the main components that students shall timely watch, digest and use them as references to finish assignments.
- Students shall watch the weekly videos to complete the weekly homework. The format of homework will be described in No.2 component as follows.
🚩🚩2. Weekly Homework Submissions to be put on Weekly Discussion Board 🚩🚩
- The weekly homework shall be submitted each week to the discussion board on canvas prior to the next live session discussion by Sunday Nights.
- Homework assignment is to think and create two questions with your own answers, which are related to the course contents (in any format of either single choice questions, multiple choice questions, concept checking questions, or any other creative format).
- Students shall post these two questions with their answers to the canvas weekly discussion page as the submissions
- These questions with answers will be graded as one point for each question. Two points for each week and total of 25% of the composite grade.
- No same/similar questions will be allowed. Students shall check the currently posted questions by others in the discussion page of each week by orders.
- Tips: The sooner the student post two questions, the better and advantage he/she will earn full points for these questions and answers.
🚩🚩3. Live Session Participation (one of two ways to participate)🚩🚩
- The participation will be measured from the weekly live sessions. Students are required to participate the live session either via zoom on each Monday night, OR send over a recorded video prior to each Monday nights to go over and discuss their submitted own questions and answers on the weekly discussion page (See No.2 component above).
- If students send recorded videos, the video will be played in live session by instructor or TA. The videos shall be in playable format sent to instructor's email or accessible youtube link prior each Monday's live session.
- The participation will be graded as one points for each participations (go over the two questions and answers related to the course contents, and answer questions from instructors or other students). Total 15% of the composite grade.
- Tips: so, basically, the participation in zoom to go over your questions will be the easiest way.
🚩🚩4. Final Project🚩🚩
Students are required to complete a final programing project as assigned towards the end of the course using Python. Tutorials will be provided in the last few modules in this course. The final project is an individual efforts and submissions will be from Canvas.
🚩🚩5. Final Essay 🚩🚩
Students are required to submit an final essay on selected topics towards the end of the course. Instructions of the essay will be provided along with this course. The final essay will be an individual effort and submissions will be from Canvas as word documents. Plagiarism check will be conducted to ensure the originality of the essay.
Course Policies
Communication
- E-mail communication is the primary method for contacting me in this course. I will respond to e-mails within 48 hours or sooner.
To ensure a prompt response, please put “Climate Change and Impacts on Water Energy and Food Nexus” in your e-mail subject line as a prefix. For example, your subject line could be: CEES 5020 Climate Change and Impacts on Water Energy and Food Nexus: Question about Discussion Homework for week 3.
Discussion Homework Policy:
- No late homework submissions will be accepted except for serious medical situations with proof or/and other approved circumstances from the instructor.
- Discussion on lecture video contents with other students is allowed.
- No same / similar submissions will be allowed. No point will be given for the one submitted in a latter time. If two questions are similar, only the first question will be given credits. See more on Major Component no.2 above.
- If you see a similar submissions on the canvas discussion tab, you shall think about other answers and different contents to be submitted.
- That also means the earlier you submit each week's homework, the better chance you will not end up in a situations that possible contents are already submitted by others.
- All homework will be submitted online in weekly discussion page in each module on canvas.
- Detailed discussions and explanations of your own answers to your created questions are required to earn full credits.
Final Project/Final Essay Policy
- Academic misconduct in any form will not be tolerated. It will be reported to the College of Engineering Dean's Office.
- No makeup final project and final essay will be accepted.
- All projects and essay are open book and open lecture notes.
- All final projects and essay will be taken home, and students will have a submission window prior to the final week.
- The grading criteria of final projects and final essay will be provided along with the releases of these assignments.

Academic Misconduct
In addition to the course conduct policies outlined by your professor in the Course Syllabus in the online classroom, please review the Graduate Student Handbook.
It is the responsibility of each student to be familiar with the definitions, policies, and procedures concerning academic misconduct. The Student Code is available from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and is contained in the Student's Guide to Academic Integrity.
This site also defines misconduct, provides examples of prohibited conduct, and explains the sanctions available for those found guilty of misconduct.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the most common form of academic misconduct at OU. There is basically no college-level assignment that can be satisfactorily completed by copying. OU's basic assumption about writing is that all written assignments show the student's own understanding in the student's own words. That means all writing assignments, in class or out, are assumed to be composed entirely of words generated (not simply found) by the student, except where words written by someone else are specifically marked as such with proper citation. Including other people's words in your paper is helpful when you do it honestly and correctly. When you don't, it's plagiarism.

Religious Holidays
The university's policy is to excuse absences of students that result from religious observances and to provide without penalty for the rescheduling of examinations and additional required classwork that may fall on religious holidays. It is the responsibility of the student to make alternate arrangements with the instructor at least one week prior to the actual date of the religious holiday.

Copyright Policy

Registration and Withdrawal
If you choose to withdraw from this course, you must complete the appropriate University form and turn the form in before the deadline. If you stop attending the course and doing the coursework without the required paperwork, your grade will be calculated with missed homework and examination grades entered as zero. This could result in receiving a grade of F in the course. Deadlines are shown in the Academic Calendar, which is available from the Office of the Registrar.
