Course Components
Participation
This course will run most successfully when each student comes prepared to Live Sessions having completed the assigned pre-reads, discussion posts, and/or watched the relevant videos for the week. Therefore, participation is a big component of the course grade. This includes speaking up during Live Session discussions, respectfully challenging others' viewpoints, asking questions to myself and guest speakers, as well as the quality of these contributions.
It is expected that students will have their webcam turned on. There are always things that happen from time to time, so please send me a quick email if you have something come up. While there is no explicit attendance or tardy policy, a significant portion of this class grade is comprised of participation, which means you will need almost full participation/attendance to be successful.
Discussion Boards
As we embrace the online learning environment, I aim to create a place for open dialogue between all of us throughout the entire course. Discussion boards are where we will discuss the relevant articles and respond to each other to get everyone ready for that week's Live Session. In each post due three days before the Live Session, you will address the following questions: 1) What did you learn from this week's reading? and 2) How could this apply to your current/previous work environments? Once you have shared your answers, you are expected to respond to at least two classmates' posts before the Live Session.
Individual Assignments
To ensure each individual is learning the tools and concepts throughout the course, we will have different individual assignments that are to be completed and submitted individually. We will discuss the Individual Assignments during the Live Sessions but will be completed outside of Live Session time.
Breakout Assignments
Supply Chain Management is heavily focused on making decisions within a team environment, and even with extended teams including finance, operations, marketing, and more. The group assignments in this course will bring together many course and program concepts, emphasize specific supply chain knowledge and skills that are the focus of today's supply chain leaders, and will always include how to communicate these results to an audience. All of the breakout assignments will have deliverables that must be turned in, and we will start these during the Live Session. These group assignments will be completed with the same group each week. Deliverables will be submitted and graded as a group assignment.
Final Group Project
The final deliverable for this course will be the final project. Your group will create and narrate a 5-minute presentation based on your analysis and research on one of the below topics and how it impacts a specific industry or company. Structure your presentation topic so that it can be communicated at all levels of the organization. Potential Topics include (but are not limited to):
- Last Mile
- AI/ML in Supply Chain
- Inventory Optimization
- Supply Chain Network Visualization
- Network Design and Optimization
- Supply Chain KPIs
- Organization Structures
- Industry 4.0
The deliverables will be a narrated, 5-minute presentation, and a 1-page executive summary that covers overview, analysis, recommendation, and next steps. You will pre-record your presentation and submit it before our final Live Session. Some groups may be selected to present their project during the final Live Session.
While the division of work is up to the group, each group member is expected to contribute heavily to the success of the group. There will be a peer evaluation survey at the end of the course that will be taken into consideration for grades. If any group member(s) are not completing their respective roles/responsibilities as agreed upon by the group, please contact me as soon as possible.
Course Policies
Communication
While I will strive to respond to everything on Canvas as well, the primary method of communication preferred is email. I aim to respond within 24 hours (Monday through Friday) and within 36 hours over the weekend (I will still check emails over the weekend, but not as frequently).
As with all of your expectations with your workplace and OU, I want this to be an environment where we can agree or disagree with each other respectfully. I expect everyone to contribute by speaking up during class, responding to cold calls, having discussions on the discussion boards, and through all of the interactive group work. Please address me as Raj when you correspond in emails or address me during the Live Session.
Feedback
I aim for a one-week turnaround on most assignments to ensure that you have proper feedback during the course.
Late Policy
Missed assignments will receive no credit and late work (work submitted past the deadline in Canvas) will receive a 25% reduction before any content-related deductions are made. There are always exceptions to this, so please communicate any barriers to me as soon as possible so we can work out a reasonable solution.
Artificial Intelligence Policy
In this course, we will use generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for specific assignments to teach you how to successfully leverage the technology, especially for work. Using AI programs where they are not explicitly assigned or allowed is considered academic dishonesty and will be considered a violation of academic integrity. If the usage of such programs is found, students will receive a "0" for the grade and will be reported to OU’s Integrity Council. Students unsure about using AI tools in coursework should speak directly to their instructor or seek guidance from the Student's Guide to Academic Integrity.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the most common form of academic misconduct at OU. There is basically no college-level assignment that can be satisfactorily completed by copying. OU's basic assumption about writing is that all written assignments show the stude own understanding in the student's own words. That means all writing assignments, in class or out, are assumed to be composed entirely of words generated (not simply found) by the student, except where words written by someone else are specifically marked as such with proper citation. Including other people's words in your paper is helpful when you do it honestly and correctly. When you don't, it's plagiarism.

Specifically, in this course, all individual assignments are to be completed solely by the individual without consulting other students. In both the group and individual assignments, you are allowed and encouraged to use external videos/resources to ensure you are doing calculations correctly, using tools appropriately, etc.

Final Exam Preparation Period
Pre-finals week will be defined as the seven calendar days before the first day of finals. Faculty may cover new course material throughout this week. For specific provisions of the policy please refer to OU's Final Exam Preparation Period policy.
Required Policies for Students On Campus
Emergency Protocol
During an emergency, there are official university procedures that will maximize your safety.
Severe Weather: If you receive an OU Alert to seek refuge or hear a tornado siren that signals severe weather:
- Look for severe weather refuge location maps located inside most OU buildings near the entrances
- Seek refuge inside a building. Do not leave one building to seek shelter in another building that you deem safer. If outside, get into the nearest building.
- Go to the building’s severe weather refuge location. If you do not know where that is, go to the lowest level possible and seek refuge in the innermost room. Avoid outside doors and windows.
- Get in, Get Down, Cover Up.
- Wait for official notice to resume normal activities.

Armed Subject/Campus Intruder
If you receive an OU Alert to shelter-in-place due to an active shooter or armed intruder situation or you hear what you perceive to be gunshots:
- Avoid: If you believe you can get out of the area without encountering the armed individual, move quickly towards the nearest building exit, move away from the building, and call 911.
- Deny: If you cannot flee, move to an area that can be locked or barricaded, turn off lights, silence devices, spread out, and formulate a plan of attack if the shooter enters the room.

Fire Alarm/General Emergency
If you receive an OU Alert that there is danger inside or near the building, or the fire alarm inside the building activates:
- Leave the building. Do not use the elevators.
- Know at least two building exits.
- Assist those who may need help.
- Proceed to the emergency assembly area.
- Once safely outside, Notify first responders of anyone who may still be inside the building due to mobility issues.
- Wait for official notice before attempting to re-enter the building.
