Software
- We will be using OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT-4 technology in this class to understand how to use prompts, Code Interpreter, visualization, and analyze the results for accuracy.
- You can access ChatGPT-4 through a $20 monthly subscription.

Course Components
Live Session Preparation
To benefit from this course, it is important to actively engage with the course materials, peers, and me. As you read the assigned materials and watch the pre-recorded lectures before the Live Session, please take notes. To complete this assignment, you will submit five total key takeaways for the Module's Resources ahead of the Live Session for that Module.
Live Session Participation
You will have a chance to submit questions, comments, and requests on a discussion board before each Live Session. We will review a few of your questions when we meet in real-time during our Live Session.
You can earn participation points by joining our Live Sessions. If, for some reason, your schedule or other commitments prevent you from joining in real time, you will have a chance to earn participation points by watching a recording of the Live Session and submitting a 'make-up' activity.
Current Events Discussions
Assess the ethical, moral, and regulatory considerations associated with digital innovation, digital strategy and emerging technologies by researching current world events. On the weeks alternating with the Emerging Technologies discussions, students research current world event news stories.
Post: Students should find two news stories regarding that week's topic and post to the module discussion board. Summaries should be 2-3 sentences per current event. Your overall post should be between 150-250 words. Your post should summarize the content of the current event and share the reason why you find it interesting/significant. Your post should include a link to your source of information. Finally, share a general question about the post to which your peers can respond.
Responses: Comment on at least one classmate’s post by directly responding to the content and/or the question. Responses can connect to the Live Session content, course content, and/or your experience. Your response post should be around 50-75 words. Responses are due by Sunday at 11:59 PM Central.
Emerging Technologies Discussions
You will be assigned to small groups to synthesize and present arguments for or against:
- Discussion 1: The potential ethical issues of full automation
- Discussion 2: The future use of emerging technologies in education
- Discussion 3: The prospect that artificial intelligence/robots will harm society by displacing work previously done by humans
You will need to take a side in the argument and highlight how your sources contribute to that side of the debate. Each week, you will review one of the three chapters of AI: 2041, synthesize the key points and connect them to the course materials. Then, you create a 3-minute video presentation based on your findings. Lastly, you will review one of the presentations and respond to prepare for the Live Session discussion.
AI Assignment
Given the rapid advancement of AI, it will be important for you to have a hands-on learning opportunity with OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT-4. This assignment will help you evaluate the capabilities and shortcomings of AI while providing the opportunity to evaluate, understand and visualize where AI might strategically apply to supporting your business objectives.
Digital Strategy Project: Checkpoints, Board Presentation, & Proposal
The Digital Strategy project will have ongoing weekly assignments that build on each other through the course. You will select a company and interview a key stakeholder in the selected company that has responsibility for the company's digital strategy. Then you will update or create a new Digital Strategy proposal based on what you learn about emerging technologies in the course, and record a Board of Directors level presentation sharing your proposal.

Communication
Please call me Stephanie and contact me through Canvas. I will generally respond within 24 hours M-F and within 48 hours on weekends. Please notify me on Canvas for appointment times outside of my scheduled student hours.

Note: If you have an urgent, time-sensitive request, please text me and include MIT-5352, your name and the issue. I will try to respond within 2-8 hours depending on availability.
Feedback
Grades will be posted within one week of assignment due dates.
Late Policy
Late assignments will be accepted, but there will be a 20% penalty for every 24 hours an assignment is late. Therefore an assignment that is 5 days late will receive a zero. Please notify me as soon as possible if there are extenuating circumstances such as a medical emergency, etc.
Incomplete Grade
A grade of I (for incomplete) will not be given under normal circumstances. Not performing well in class, not being able to complete an assignment on time or being out of town during a test are inadequate reasons for requesting or granting an incomplete. Only circumstances beyond your control (such as a medical emergency), which will need to be documented, may warrant a grade of I.
Academic Integrity for Artificial Intelligence Programs
In this course, we will use generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for specific assignments to teach you how to successfully leverage the technology, especially for work. Using AI programs where they are not explicitly assigned or allowed is considered academic dishonesty and will be considered a violation of academic integrity. If the usage of such programs is found, students will receive a “0” for the grade and will be reported to OU’s Integrity Council. Students unsure about using AI tools in coursework should speak directly to their instructor or seek guidance from the Student's Guide to Academic Integrity.
