As counselors-in-training, it is important for you to be aware of your values and beliefs and how they will inform your selection of a guiding theory and future practice as an ethical and competent counselor in the field.

Instructions

1. Refer to pages 7-8 in your required textbook, Counseling Theory and Practice, to review prior to completing this survey.
2. For each of the following five statements, check each item that best describes your beliefs and values.
3. Then, using your responses as a guide, develop a paragraph or two that describes your view of human nature and worldview. Feel free to add other items as you deem necessary.
4. Your results on this survey will support you exploring each theory that is introduced throughout this semester and guide the development of your Guiding Theory Paper.
