Thoughts & Experiences Discussions
Each week, you will submit a post to this discussion board before the Live Session. This will help you to tie your personal experiences to your new learning in the module, and it will be an opportunity to learn from the experiences of your classmates. It will also help the instructor understand your current level of understanding of the module topic.
Live Sessions
Each week, there will be a Live Session on Zoom. If you are not able to attend, you will need to watch the recording later; however, it is highly recommended that you attend these interactive sessions whenever possible. We will have Q & A time, in-class activities, peer and instructor feedback, etc.
Post-Live Session Assignments
During most modules, you will have the opportunity to apply the concepts learned to a real-world scenario or problem, and the instructor will assess your level of mastery over the content.
Final Project & Related Assignments
At the end of the modules, you will submit an assignment to help you build your final project. Your instructor will offer feedback so that you can improve each piece of the project as you go. During the last module, you will submit a paper and presentation.
Course Policies
Communication
I appreciate that learning a subject like Finance may be a new experience and perhaps it might trigger some anxieties about a subject that relies so much on numbers, monetary units, and worksheet displays. I've been facilitating learning in this subject area for a couple of decades and have built experience with decoding the language and tools of Finance. I appreciate the opportunity to guide your learning in this important area of managing an organization.
Please use my email Steven.M.Crane-1@ou.edu for all communication. On week days M-F you can expect to receive a response within 24 hours. My response time increases to 48 hours over the weekends. I generally prefer Professor Crane when addressing me and my responses will usually follow with my full name, Steven M. Crane. My response will usually use your first name unless you have a preference for another address. If so please let me know.
Feedback
My commitment is to provide feedback on assignments one week after they are submitted. I will let you know if for any reason I am delayed in responding within that one-week time frame. Please note that the clock starts once they are submitted versus the due date of the assignment
Submission of on-time assignments is preferred to help keep the flow of feedback consistent within the span of the course for all students. If for any reason you are unable to meet the due date please also reach out to me ahead of time, at least one day ahead. Respected communication means advance notice along with a reason why you are unable to meet the due date and there will be instances when an extension seems appropriate.
Late Policy
Meeting deadlines is an important part of management and this includes submitting assignments on time. I however recognize that we all have busy lives and attempting to keep up with deadlines can at times be challenging. To offer some flexibility there will be a grace period of 24 hours past the due date on any assignment when it will not be considered late. Any assignment submitted without my approved extension beyond these 24 hours will be considered late and subject to grade reduction. For each 24 hours of late submission, your grade will be reduced by 10% up to 6 days after the due date. No grade points will be awarded on any assignment submitted after 6 days past the due date and be returned to you without any instructor feedback.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the most common form of academic misconduct at OU. There is no college-level assignment that can be satisfactorily completed by copying. OU's basic assumption about writing is that all written assignments show the student's own understanding in the student's own words. That means all writing assignments, in class or out, are assumed to be composed entirely of words generated (not simply found) by the student, except where words written by someone else are specifically marked as such with proper citation. Including other people's words in your paper is helpful when you do it honestly and correctly. When you don't, it's plagiarism.

Land Acknowledgement
Long before the University of Oklahoma was established, the land on which the University now resides was the traditional home of the “Hasinais” Caddo Nation and “Kirikirʔi:s” Wichita & Affiliated Tribes.

Academic Integrity

Academic honesty is incredibly important in this course. Cheating is strictly prohibited at the University of Oklahoma because it devalues the degree you are working hard to get. Adjustments for Pregnancy/Childbirth-Related Issues
Should you need modifications or adjustments to your course requirements because of documented pregnancy-related or childbirth-related issues, please contact your instructor as soon as possible to discuss your options. Generally, modifications will be made where medically necessary and similar in scope to accommodations based on temporary disability. Final Exam Preparation Period
Pre-finals week will be defined as the seven calendar days before the first day of finals. Faculty may cover new course material throughout this week. For specific provisions of the policy please refer to OU's Final Exam Preparation Period policy.
Required Policies for Students On Campus
Emergency Protocol
During an emergency, there are official university procedures that will maximize your safety.
Severe Weather: If you receive an OU Alert to seek refuge or hear a tornado siren that signals severe weather:
- Look for severe weather refuge location maps located inside most OU buildings near the entrances
- Seek refuge inside a building. Do not leave one building to seek shelter in another building that you deem safer. If outside, get into the nearest building.
- Go to the building’s severe weather refuge location. If you do not know where that is, go to the lowest level possible and seek refuge in the innermost room. Avoid outside doors and windows.
- Get in, Get Down, Cover Up.
- Wait for official notice to resume normal activities.

Armed Subject/Campus Intruder
If you receive an OU Alert to shelter-in-place due to an active shooter or armed intruder situation or you hear what you perceive to be gunshots:
- Avoid: If you believe you can get out of the area without encountering the armed individual, move quickly towards the nearest building exit, move away from the building, and call 911.
- Deny: If you cannot flee, move to an area that can be locked or barricaded, turn off lights, silence devices, spread out, and formulate a plan of attack if the shooter enters the room.

Fire Alarm/General Emergency
If you receive an OU Alert that there is danger inside or near the building, or the fire alarm inside the building activates:
- Leave the building. Do not use the elevators.
- Know at least two building exits.
- Assist those who may need help.
- Proceed to the emergency assembly area.
- Once safely outside, Notify first responders of anyone who may still be inside the building due to mobility issues.
- Wait for official notice before attempting to re-enter the building.
