Course Policies
Communication
If you need to contact us (Dr. Grady or Dr. Perez) throughout the course, please do so through Canvas/email. We intend to respond within 24 hours, M-F.
We expect all participants to exhibit respectful and professional behavior in our communications and time together throughout our 16 weeks together.
Please communicate with us if unexpected adversities arise. We cannot plan everything, and we all need a little grace every now and then. So please do not hesitate to contact us if something comes up.
Check your e-mail and Canvas regularly for communications from the instructor. When you email the mentor and instructor, please remember to start the title of your email with “CH E 5023:”

If you have any questions about your feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out for clarification or support.
Late Policy
Late submissions will be considered up to one week after the deadline. This extension applies to both written weekly work and assignments. However, assignments will generally not be accepted if they are more than a week late unless the student faces extenuating circumstances beyond their control, such as a medical emergency. In such cases, the student should contact the instructor to discuss potential arrangements for submitting the work after the deadline.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the most common form of academic misconduct at OU. There is basically no college-level assignment that can be satisfactorily completed by copying. OU's basic assumption about writing is that all written assignments show the student's own understanding in the student's own words. That means all writing assignments, in class or out, are assumed to be composed entirely of words generated (not simply found or prompted from generative AI) by the student, except where words written by someone (or something) else are specifically marked as such with proper citation. Including other people's (or generative AI) words in your paper is helpful when you do it honestly and correctly. When you don't, it's plagiarism.
