About This Quiz
This quiz covers the concepts from the Unit 4 readings, videos, and lessons. As a "concepts" quiz, it focuses on definitions and ideas behind the weekly topics and does not involve calculations or interpretations (we handle those elements in the practice problems and survey analysis project assignments).
- Course content tested: Unit 4
- Quiz format: True-False
- Time limit: 20 minutes
- Number of attempts: 1
Objectives
This assignment will guide your learning process to ensure you can:
- Differentiate between two-sample t-tests and paired t-tests by explaining their assumptions, conditions, and appropriate applications.
- Apply two-sample and paired t-tests to real-world data: Students will practice solving problems using the class dataset and JASP, demonstrating proficiency in applying these tests to analyze differences between groups or conditions.
- Interpret results from two-sample and paired t-tests: Students will learn to correctly interpret p-values, confidence intervals, and the results of hypothesis testing, and make appropriate conclusions based on statistical output.
- Recognize the limitations of parametric t-tests: Students will be able to identify situations where parametric t-tests are not appropriate due to violations of assumptions (e.g., normality), and understand when to use non-parametric alternatives.
- Compare and contrast parametric and non-parametric t-tests: Students will be able to discuss the strengths and limitations of both parametric and non-parametric t-tests and make informed decisions about which test to use based on data characteristics.
