What is Self-Plagiarism?

Academic integrity is extremely important at the University of Oklahoma, especially in this degree program. Some instructors have reported instances where students are recycling all or part of their prior written assignments and resubmitting the work in different classes. Such behavior is not acceptable. TurnItIn is an educational service that checks the originality of student papers. It compares a student's writing to information available on the internet as well as a repository of previously submitted student papers. As a result, if you plagiarize information and/or submit portions of your prior papers, it will be detected by TurnItIn. It is important to be aware that TurnItIn may be used to review your work in this program.
