How to Create a Permalink for Library Resources

Copying the Permalink

The best way to add an article, electronic book, or database to your Canvas course is to link to the article using a permalink or permanent link. Linking to an article rather than uploading a PDF allows the library to record more accurate usage statistics for journals and databases. 

  1. Locate an article or resource on the OU Libraries website
  2. Locate the Permanent Link (you may need to click "More Information")
  3. Copy this permalink and post it in Canvas (see example below for what to tell students)

Instructions for Students

Use similar instructions to the ones below to share the permalink with students.

The reading can be found on the OU Libraries website. To access the reading:

  1. Click the link to the reading below
  2. Log into the OU Libraries website
  3. Go to the "View it" section and select a link to the reading
